- Project / Program Description
LA Department of Water and Power is one of the largest Public Owned Utilities in CA and will soon be transitioning to 100% renewable energy. Currently this transformation is spurred by state legislation and local City Council measures working together to cut overall Greenhouse gas emissions for the state while prioritizing low income communities usually renters, multifamily and people of color. Together with LADWP, Repower LA's project will build on this mandate and help create a PILOT community shared solar program where renters and other low income customers can see a savings on their bill and more solar on the grid.
- Project Updates
The Repower LA Coaliton has made great headway in its partnership with the largest municipal utility in the country - LADWP - to design a community solar pilot specifically reaching low-income renters that have traditionally been left out of capturing the benefits of Solar. Sites have been selected and the program is close to being approved by the Board of Commissioners! Wohoo!
Here are some great stories from our recent Board approval of the city's first community solar program!
