Project Description

Project / Program Description

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Community Solar initiative is designed to provide clean solar energy to small “mom and pop” businesses and low-to-moderate income households located within communities impacted by rail line construction. The Metro Community Solar model will build solar capacity or purchase ~500 kW capacity block from a community solar plant developed within Southern California Edison territory. Through the capacity block option, Metro will distribute shares to eligible small businesses and households that can buy solar at a discount. Unassigned capacity will be retained for Metro facility use. The program will alleviate solar access barriers by aggregating and subsidizing, and will deliver renewable benefits in the form of lower electric bills to those who could not otherwise participate in SCE’s community solar program.
