Project Description

Project / Program Description

Team VLV empowers communities in Chicago by providing solar infrastructure at no cost to low income, non-profits, and faith based communities. We are able to do this through our innovative business structure and Eco-Platform: MARIA.  With the challenge, we plan to develop 2.4MWs of solar.

Our solar in your community project is an Eco-Platform to mitigate, adapt and cause urgent action to the impacts of climate change.  A multifaceted climate, economic development and awareness tool for stakeholder engagement.

MARIA is an acronym which represents the elements we think it will take to impact climate change.

Mitigation: Carbon offset, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects

Adaptability:  Adapting the built environment to solar, or an alternative option to going solar, Community Solar

Resilience:  Represents taking control of your energy, using battery storage, to protect against power outages and extreme weather events

Innovation:  Creative financing and ideas; such as Community Solar

Awareness:  Stakeholder Awareness: We believe it's going to a lot of people taking a little action to move the needle on climate change.  As Climate Reality Leaders with former Vice-President, Al Gore's Climate Reality Project, we look to awaken people to confront the greatest issue of our time, that will define us for future generations.
