Project Description

Project / Program Description

The “Solarize South Dallas” project-focused team had created a road-map in the 75215 zip code region, for community-based solar & group purchasing agreements. Our goal is to administer the total electricity capacity of 100-500 kW in 18-months. By partnering with local faith-based groups and non-profit organizations, we will be able to aggregate 30 low-to-moderate income residential projects and 15 non-profit projects.

Our Innovation:

Our team w administer this "solarize" project as an economic stimulus initiative that will spur the development of South Dallas's low-to-moderate income. The proposed solar projects will be installed by local South Dallas residents (local veterans, church goers, and ex-offenders) that we train, as our team creates a network of a qualified solar workforce in the region.

About Zip Code 75215:

There are about 12,000 households and 700 businesses in zip code 75215. While wealth shapes the image of Dallas, the percentage of Dallas residents living below the poverty line grew from 18 percent to 24 percent over the past decade. About one-half of the households in 75215 have incomes under the Federal Poverty Level for a family of four ($23,550). Zip code 75215 is the most impoverished district in the city.

Despite these challenges, 75215 is a region of immense culture and diversity. Each year, the Texas State Fair is held at the the local Fair Park. The fair brings thousands of visitors to the destination. Our team believes in the power of community solar to uplift the neighborhoods surrounding the fair grounds; to foster a vibrant & clean economy. The "Solarize South Dallas" project will be used to catalyze local interest surrounding sustainability upgrades, clean technology innovation, and smart grid research. Dallas, Texas is one of the largest business & real estate markets in the country. Our team is poised to expand solar access in South Dallas, a transitionally under-served market.

Community Partners Include:

Good Faith Energy, a solar energy developer based in Dallas, Texas. Good Faith Energy focuses on residential and commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) developments and battery storage projects. Good Faith Energy's mission is to lead local transformations towards a clean energy economy and has installed a capacity of 110.055 kW in 2016. Good Faith Energy's role will be to source top quality solar panels, equipment, and designs for community solar & local projects.
