- Project / Program Description
Our plan proposes to construct zero net energy (generate as much power as they use), healthy & safe micro minis/living pads, which are movable, under a shelter with solar power and energy storage. These micro minis would offer rapid rehousing and/or transitional housing options. Plus, volunteers (functional homeless individuals identified by services) would help organize, coordinate, and sign-up individuals for shelter, needs assessment, health care, etc.. These pioneers could test the concept, offer examples for evaluation of the concept for functionality, safety and effectiveness.
Affordable housing is one of the issues contributing to homelessness, along with mental illness and addiction. If the solar energy storage and micro minis could facilitate a shelter that is safe and functional one contributor could be addressed.
